CSA – Certified System Administrator Complete Guide


The Certified System Administrator (CSA) exam validates foundational knowledge of the ServiceNow platform required for Business Analysts and Administrators. It covers core platform capabilities including navigation, data model, tables and fields, forms and lists, users and roles, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Service Catalog, Flow Designer, reporting, and basic configuration. The exam measures understanding of platform administration, governance, and best practices. Earning CSA demonstrates the ability to support implementations, gather requirements, configure solutions, and collaborate effectively within ServiceNow projects across IT, HR, and business workflows.

Exam Name: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)


Exam Fee: $300 USD ( Standard Global Price )


Exam Duration: 90 Minutes


Exam Format: Multiple Choice Question


Number of Questions: 60 Questions


Passing Score:  Around 70% (subject to version updates)


Mode: Online Proctored


Certification Validity: Must maintain certification through ServiceNow Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) by completing release-based delta exams

Prerequisites : No mandatory prerequisite certification; however, completion of ServiceNow Fundamentals training is required to unlock exam eligibility. Basic understanding of ITSM concepts and 3–6 months hands-on platform experience is recommended.


Note : The CSA exam focuses on core platform knowledge rather than deep implementation specialization. Strong understanding of tables, relationships, security roles, data policies, reporting, and automation concepts is critical to passing.
